MINIMAL offers European brands and curated furnishings for modern living

The MINIMAL showroom, recently opened in downtown Toronto, features contemporary Italian furniture new to this part of the world and never before seen in our city. The company was born over 25 years ago in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where proprietor Michael Cunningham got his start in his father’s high-end European furniture showroom. Growing up surrounded by furniture from the likes of Eileen Grey, Le Corbusier and Mies van der Rohe, Michael knows the best-of-the-best and how to provide top-tier customer service.

Horm/Casamania’s Billie sectional features a sturdy aluminum frame, deep cushions and a beautifully tailored silhouette.

Relocating from Ireland to Toronto in 2013, Michael honed his skills at two high-end showrooms in the Design District on King Street East. Exposure to the local trade combined with his entrepreneurial spirit led Michael to recognize there was an opportunity to provide a greater array of products and services he believed was missing in the marketplace. This inspired his next step: the launch of his own brand. In a hidden, historic building off of King Street West, the MINIMAL showroom opened mid-2020 – a great feat during the pandemic – and has quickly established itself as a jewel in the furniture business.
