The company was born over 25 years ago in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where proprietor Michael Cunningham got his start in his father’s high-end European furniture showroom. Relocating from Ireland to Toronto in 2013, Michael honed his skills at two high-end showrooms in the Design District on King Street East. Exposure to the local trade combined with his entrepreneurial spirit led Michael to recognize there was an opportunity to provide a greater array of products and services he believed was missing in the marketplace. This inspired his next step: the launch of his own brand. In a hidden, historic building off of King Street West, the MINIMAL showroom opened mid-2020 – a great feat during the pandemic – and has quickly established itself as a jewel in the furniture business.
