The Interior Design Show returns to Vancouver this fall

Each September, IDS Vancouver—presented by JennAir—offers a compelling look at the design community shaping life on the West Coast and, increasingly, influencing how we think about materiality, craft, and sustainability across Canada. Now in its 20th year, the show continues to evolve as both a launchpad for emerging talent and a vital meeting ground for the design industry at large.

With more than 25,000 attendees expected, including 12,000+ architecture and design professionals, IDS Vancouver is as much about conversation as it is about commerce. At its heart is a thoughtfully curated show floor, where established brands, independent makers and rising design studios showcase what’s new across furniture, lighting, textiles, finishes and more. From the hand-crafted woodwork of David Ives and the sculptural ceramics of Kathleen Tennock, to the clean-lined modular seating of Cozey and the architectural finesse of JennAir, the range of exhibitors reflects the diversity of thought and form that defines Canadian design today.

For East Coast studios and specifiers, IDS Vancouver offers a fresh vantage point—one that complements what we see each January at IDS Toronto. The scale is intimate, but the influence is far-reaching. With fewer distractions and a more laid-back pace, the Vancouver edition makes space for deeper conversations and organic discovery. It’s a show that invites you to linger—over a sculptural light by Proxima, or a soft-close drawer system from Blum—and to meet the designers behind the work.

What sets IDS Vancouver apart is not just its focus on West Coast makers, but its embrace of collaboration and cross-discipline thinking. This year’s show (taking place from September 25-28) is poised to foreground thoughtful innovation that resonates far beyond the showroom floor.

Beyond product launches, IDS Vancouver hosts installations, design talks, and community-minded programming that ask timely questions about the role of design today. What does sustainability look like when local supply chains are prioritized? How do we reconcile high design with accessibility? And what role can storytelling play in the objects and environments we choose to live with?

For brands, the show offers access to a highly targeted and engaged audience—buyers, retailers, architects, and decision-makers who come ready to connect. For attendees, it’s a chance to step into a larger conversation about the future of design—one that’s responsive, regional and refreshingly real.

Whether you’re visiting to take in the scene or considering exhibiting to expand your presence out West, IDS Vancouver makes a strong case for the value of showing up, connecting face-to-face, and seeing what’s possible when design meets place.
